American actor Rob Schneider has proudly claimed his support for the police services.
American Actor Rob Schneider Slammed For Praising The Police
The confidence in the police force within the United States is probably at an all-time low, especially in light of everything that has been happening. The killing of George Floyd did not help things, as it highlighted the increasing risk that people feel with police brutality.
But given that Rob had personally experienced the good-will of the police force, as demonstrated by the fact that they had managed to help him out when his car had broken down, he had nothing but praise for them.
In an interview, he said: “These are just really good, hardworking Americans – their job is to protect citizens who don’t listen to their wives, like me, and get stuck on the side of the road. I’m grateful to the Scottsdale PD.”
Much like any profession, that is a combination of good people and those who are not so good. And yet, it is also important to bear in mind that there are people who feel duly victimised by the police force.
Although Rob’s comments were not intended to demean anybody who had suffered at the hands of the police, the very fact of the matter is that they had inadvertently done so regardless of intent.
One person on Twitter wrote: “Wealthy, middle-aged white guys generally ONLY have these interactions with police. It’s why they can’t understand complaints about profiling and institutional racism.”
Despite the criticism that was coming his way, Rob continued to double down on his beliefs. For him, it was simply a case of imagining a world where there was no police force.
In such an environment, crime would be running wild as well as having an environment where there was a lack of safety for the people.
His following comments confirmed as much: “Things break down really quickly without police and without that protection. You’re gonna need that.
“You’re gonna want that. And I do think that they’re maligned, and it’s unwarranted.” This story has shown that there is still a long way to go before there is complete trust within the police force.
