Britney Spears has reportedly threatened to sue her sister Jamie Lynn Spears if her upcoming memoir is deemed to have made any unfounded claims against her.
Britney Spears Threatens To Sue Her Sister Jamie Lynn Spears Over Her New Book
It is no secret that Britney Spears and sister Jamie Lynn Spears are not on good terms, as evidenced by their exchanges on social media.
Jamie’s book ‘Things I Should Have Said,’ is ultimately coming on the back end of Britney’s conservatorship victory, which could now reveal unpleasant information about Britney, just when she was looking to get her life back on track.
And as a way of protecting her mental health, as well as a reputation, Britney’s legal team have allegedly let Jamie know that they would not stand by and watch unfounded statements being made about her.
According to TMZ, Britney’s lawyer Mat Rosengart has sent the following letter to Jamie which states: “You cease and desist from referencing Britney derogatorily during your promotional campaign.
“If you fail to do so or defame her, Britney will be forced to consider and take all appropriate legal action.” In light of this, Jamie will have to think very carefully about how she wants to proceed going forward.
Public opinion is heavily in favour of Britney Spears, as demonstrated by the rise of the #FreeBritneyMovement which was so integral in making public opinion ride on the side of Britney.
Secondly, if Jamie’s book does go ahead with things that Britney does not agree with, then it will be another case of a legal battle with somebody from the family, after Britney had removed herself from the control of her father Jamie Spears.
Although people may view this as Britney being unfairly targeted by her family, the very fact of the matter is that there is no smoke without fire. Therefore, a legal case is hardly going to cover both of them in glory.
Mat’s following comments confirmed as much: “You of all people know the abuse and wrongdoing Britney had to endure during the conservatorship, after initially growing up with a ‘ruinous,’ alcoholic father.”
Hopefully, the two sisters can manage to work this out behind closed doors without the need for the courts to get involved. Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
