Following Britney Spears’ conservatorship ending, Jamie Lynn Spears will address the issues between her and her sister–among other things–in an ABC interview. The interview comes as the 30-year-old Spears promotes her upcoming book Things I Should Have Said. Spears’ memoir will detail her life as a performer and as a part of the Spears family with all of the drama that continues to come with it.

A promo clip from the interview shows an emotional Jamie Lynn appearing to answer follow-up questions by ABC News’ Juju Chang. It is cut in a way to entice the viewer into watching the full interview. Think of the disastrous Alec Baldwin interview’s promo for a good example.
Jamie Lynn Spears to Discuss Relationship with Britney Spears in “Good Morning America” Interview Wednesday
Throughout her sister’s conservatorship, Britney became more vocal about their father controlling everything. It was observed that Jamie Lynn Spears was mostly silent on the issue until it ended.
After experiencing a lot of backlash for not being out there to defend her older sister, The Sweet Magnolias star responded via a June 2021 Instagram Story:
“The only reason I haven’t before is because I felt like until my sister was able to speak for herself and say what she felt she needed to say publicly, that it wasn’t my place and it wasn’t the right thing to do. But now that she’s very clearly spoken and said what she needed to say, I feel like I can follow her lead and say what I feel like I need to say.”
You can watch the video of her statement above. While she said Britney could basically stick up for herself, during her conservatorship hearing, the 40-year-old pop star told an L.A. Superior Court Judge:
“I really couldn’t even take up for myself. I couldn’t even have a conversation with my mom or dad…I was scared.”
Britney would later stop following Jamie Lynn on Instagram.
The interview will be aired in two parts first on Good Morning America while on Wednesday morning and the second half on Nightline. Jamie Lynn Spears’ tell-all book Things I Should Have Said—originally called I Must Confess before Britney Spears had something to say about—debuts January 18.
