The pair, for their part, were involved in one of the most controversial live performances in music history.
Their 2004 Super Bowl performance became infamous by virtue of the fact that during the course of their routine, a series of incidents led to Janet’s nipple being exposed after a malfunction with the dress.
Although Justin’s career continued to go on strong in the aftermath, the very fact of the matter is that the same could not have been said for Janet.
But in light of her music comeback in 2022, she has reassured fans that everything between her and Justin is on good terms. In an official statement, she said: “Honestly, this whole thing was blown way out of proportion.
“And, of course, it was an accident that should not have happened, but everyone is looking for someone to blame and that’s got to stop. Justin and I are very good friends, and we will always be very good friends.”
The main reason why this had gotten so much controversy was especially since a certain subset of people felt that Justin showed a lack of remorse.
They believed that he could have spoken out more against this and taken on more of the responsibility by moving the negative media scrutiny away from Janet.
And yet, it looks as though the pair had a heart to heart with the result that Janet reassured him that everything was going to be fine.
She added: “We talked once and [Justin] said, ‘I don’t know if I should come out and make a statement. And I said, ‘Listen, I don’t want any drama for you.
“They’re aiming all of this at me.’ So I said, ‘If I were you, I wouldn’t say anything.'” As long as Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake have put this behind them, then that is the most important thing.
Much in the same way, the media should do the same, especially since it has been over a decade since the incident occurred. And hopefully Janet’s statements will help to achieve just that.
