It’s been well documented recently that Mustafa Ali wants out of his WWE contract. WWE however, has refused to release him, likely seeking to prove a point in the process. However, he’s not the only man who wants out of their WWE deal. The Brian Kendrick has been wanting out of his WWE contract for over a month now.
The Brian Kendrick Requested His WWE Release Over A Month Ago
This was first reported by PWInsider, who confirmed the report with multiple sources within WWE. The Brian Kendrick requested his release “atleast six weeks” ago. His last match in WWE was back in October of 2020 on 205 Live. A match with Harland was teased back in December, but never happened.
Right now, Kendrick is one of the backstage workers within NXT 2.0 – and was not released alongside the likes of William Regal, Timothy Thatcher and more. It’s clear that WWE doesn’t want him in the ring, but Kendrick likely wants to have a better finale to his career than in an match on a show that not even diehard WWE fans follow.
WWE Are Trying To Prove Some Type Of Point
Much like Mustafa Ali, WWE seems to be trying to prove a point with this. Many have criticized WWE about these situations recently, with them cutting contracts with zero notice – while talent lack the same level of control. We know Ali has been kept home, but it’s unclear if Kendrick has been hard at work in the Performance Center. Given the recent mass release, it’s likely they’re shorter for names than usual – increasing the workload on those who remain.
We can only hope that both Ali & Kendrick are granted their WWE releases within the next few months. Both men are supremely talented, and the fan perception is both are wasted within WWE. Ali is not able to spread his message through WWE. Kendrick isn’t allowed to get into the ring and do what he does best. Where can you see Ali & Kendrick going once they’re out of WWE?
