Right now, there are some older names who are still lingering in NXT 2.0. The roster in general is as young as ever, but the likes of Roderick Strong, Tommaso Ciampa, and LA Knight stand out for their age on the brand.
While Ciampa has gotten some reps on the main roster recently, showing up in Madison Square Garden and on some episodes of Main Event – Strong & Knight are fresh faces to show up around the main roster – but are both backstage for tonight’s episode of Smackdown Live.
LA Knight Is A Natural Fit For The WWE Main Roster – Many Felt He Should Have Skipped NXT
When it comes to LA Knight, the former Eli Drake was one name that fans wondered why they even landed in NXT in the first place. His run has been fine, with highlights like his feud with Cameron Grimes & entering War Games standing out. However, his in-ring style, look, and promo skills all make him perfect for story focused shows like Monday Night RAW & Smackdown Live.
We can only hope that this means his time in NXT is through, with a storyline explanation of Grayson Waller getting a restraining order against him being a solid way to remove him from NXT TV. All the same, fans hope to see Knight put the beating of Waller one last time before leaving the brand.
Roderick Strong Coming Up Without Diamond Mine?
The situation around Roderick Strong is less certain. He found a great gimmick in the ace of Diamond Mine, but his style of wrestling is going out of style in WWE. Few men can match him in the ring, and he’s an asset to any wrestling focused show.
However, the shorter match lengths of RAW & Smackdown Live could leave him in an awkward position. WWE could be taking one last look at Strong, and evaluating his potential in the company. This was a similar situation that Bronson Reed was placed into, which led to his release.
Few expected Strong to be the last name standing in the Undisputed Era – and it’d be shocking to see him be the one to make an impact on the main roster. He recently set his Pro Wrestling Tees shop back up, which is generally not allowed under WWE contract.
