It looks like the WWE are moving more of their talent from NXT 2.0 to the main roster, or at least giving them a chance to show what they can do.
The WWE regularly holds dark matches before their shows to give their talent some work and to see how the fans react to fresh faces and this week’s Smackdown tapings aren’t any different.
It’s been reported by PWInsider’s Mike Johnson that four NXT 2.0 stars appeared at this week’s taping at the T Mobile Center in Kansas City, MO.
Moving up?
Roderick Strong, Dakota Kai, lo Shirai, and LA Knight were the seen at the recordings, but there’s no word if they’ll appear on the Royal Rumble Go Home episode of Smackdown or not.
We expect to see a lot of action tonight for the final build up to the pay-per-view, so it won’t surprise us if we see them backstage at the very least.
It’ll be good to see Shirai again since she hasn’t worked on the main roster since 2019’s Royal Rumble, so that gives us hope to see them in some sort of action.
WWE’s main brands need a serious influx of talent, especially in the women’s division. The down side is they could just be there to tease their part in the Royal Rumble so that could be the end of it.
After releasing 81 superstars in 2021, the WWE roster is gutted and it’s the perfect time to bring up more talent.
Of course, there’s the curse of going to the main roster as the talent brought up the last couple of years has been misused and eventually released when their popularity didn’t match what they had in NXT.
Going all in
The WWE is going all out for the Royal Rumble between teasing NXT stars and bringing back Legends to compete.
For many, they weren’t able to wrestling in the Royal Rumble as it wasn’t around when they were with the company, and it’s only natural they want to be part of the show to add to their legacy.
In the end, it’ll be a fun show with a couple of surprises if the WWE can stop naming names to take a way from their appearance.
With one day to go, there’s still plenty of time for things to change and more to be added to the match.
