For the past few years, it’s been impossible to deny Bobby Lashley has been one of the best parts about WWE. Ever since linking up with MVP as a manager, Lashley has been The All-Mighty. He’s claimed the WWE United States Championship once, and the WWE Championship twice. His second reign was one that might be overlooked in history however – as he never actually got to defend it due to injury.
Bobby Lashley Was Injured At The Royal Rumble – Written Off At Elimination Chamber
At Royal Rumble, WWE would have the dream match of Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley. A proper heavyweight clash would see these two powerhouses clash, with Roman Reigns showing up and costing Brock Lesnar the championship. However prior to this, Lesnar would nail some signature German Suplexes on Lashley, which would lead to a shoulder injury.
Lashley did not wrestle in the time between Royal Rumble & Elimination Chamber, and wouldn’t get to enter the Elimination Chamber match. A buckle bomb into his pod would cause an injury, and lead to him being taken away from the match. Brock Lesnar would go on to eliminate everyone and win the match and his seventh WWE Championship.
Out Of The Mix For Wrestlemania, Could Be Back By Summerslam
This injury is expected to keep Bobby Lashley out of the ring for about four months. Because of this, he has now been removed from any potential wrestlemania plans. There was hope that he would get a chance to face Brock Lesnar again at Wrestlemania, and have a chance to reclaim the championship.
We can expect Lashley back in the mix by Summerslam later this year provided the recovery process goes smoothly. After putting in so much hard work over the past few years, Lashley has earned a break from WWE’s insane schedule, and we can only hope that when he returns – it’s back to a main event level.
A Return Feud Against Seth Rollins?
Right now, there are two storylines set up for a return from Lashley. One is a rematch against Brock Lesnar, with Lashley having called for a Fight Pit match. Lesnar is shaky at best with plans however, and no one knows how long his current WWE run will last. However, Seth Rollins is now the one responsible for taking out Lashley at Elimination Chamber – and that could be the basis of a WWE feud when Lashley returns.
