Comedian Heather McMahan has revealed that she could have appeared on the Real Housewives franchise.
Comedian Heather McMahan Claims She Would ‘Thrive As A Housewife’ After Previously Being Approached By The Real Housewives Franchise
It is no secret that Heather is a massive fan of the show. And by the looks of it, the franchise was very keen to have her on board. Heather expanded on how somebody from the show had reached out to her during the course of the earlier parts of the pandemic.
Although that may have been the case, the very fact of the matter is that the circumstances were not ideal to make Heather commit to the show.
In an interview on the ‘Getting Real with the Housewives’ podcast, she said: “They loosely reached out to my agents during the [Coronavirus] pandemic.
“And I was like, ‘Well, one, I’m not a housewife.’ Two, they were looking at me for New York. I go, ‘I don’t even live in New York anymore.” Nevertheless, Heather backed herself to do well if she ever did appear on the franchise.
And yet, it is not just as simple as that. The comedian admitted that the franchise has resulted in numerous people being marred by controversy, whether that be by accident or design, which is something that has made her a little hesitant.
And given that there is always an expectation to entertain the fans, which has resulted in claims that the show favours entertainment at the expense of authenticity, Heather may have dodged a bullet.
She added: “I would thrive as a Housewife…I adore the Housewives, [but] I almost feel like it’s a little bit of the kiss of death. I feel like if you’re on Housewives, you either get audited by the IRS or you get divorced.”
That is why Heather is keeping herself firmly on track with her comedy career. After all, she has managed to cross over into comedy movies which is something she has received acclaim for: most notably, her performance in ‘Love Hard.’
Who knows what the future holds, but one thing for sure is that if the franchise is looking for new faces, then Heather’s name could be one of those coming to a screen near you. Time will tell.
