It has been quite some time since we’ve seen Kairi Sane in a ring. After signing with WWE back in 2016, Sane would go on to have some success in the company, winning the second Mae Young Classic, the NXT Women’s Championship, and WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. However, she was written off TV in late 2020, and spent the rest of her WWE contract out of the ring in her homeland of Japan. However, now her WWE contract is over – and Kairi is ready to get back to doing what she does best.
Kairi Sane Returns To Stardom, Officially Done With WWE
During a press conference for Wonder Ring Stardom, Kairi would make her return to the promotion. This is where she got her start in the professional wrestling under the ringname Kairi Hojo. Alongside Io Shirai & Mayu Iwatani was considered to be one of the best wrestlers in the world during her peak in the promotion. Mayu remains in the company, while Io is still signed to WWE as part of their NXT 2.0 brand.
Now under the name KAIRI, she claims to be in her final form as a professional wrestler. Her goals are to get back to working full time with Stardom, and once again claim the top prize in the promotion – the World Of Stardom championship. This is incredibly exciting news, as she has long been considered to be one of the best the promotion has ever produced – and most of their roster in 2022 has never had a chance to work with her.
Most Of The Current Stardom Roster Have Never Gotten To Wrestle Against KAIRI
Lots of fresh matchups have opened up with KAIRI back, and with her seemingly in the best shape of her career, we are set to see some excellent matches. This also comes at a time where Stardom are looking to become bigger than ever – recently making their main card debut at Tokyo Dome in a showcase match for New Japan Pro Wrestling. Getting a name like KAIRI back on the roster will only help their growth, as she remains an incredibly popular name in the region.
Fans are hoping to see Io Shirai follow suit when her contract in WWE is done, especially as there seems to be little hope of her moving to the main roster. Shirai has been in NXT since her WWE debut, and has already accomplished everything possible on that brand.
