Singer Troye Sivan Explains Why He Made The Decision To Come Out Prior To Mainstream Success - 'I Really Wanted To Be In Charge'

Singer Troye Sivan has spoken about why he made the decision to come out prior to him becoming a mainstream success.

Singer Troye Sivan Explains Why He Made The Decision To Come Out Prior To His Mainstream Success-‘I Really Wanted To Be In Charge’

Troye, for his part, made the decision to come out when he was aged just 15-years-old. While that was clearly a difficult decision to ponder over, the very fact of the matter is that Troye wanted to live a life and have a career that was not centered around his sexuality.

In this way, he felt he could have more control over the narrative that was written about him. In an interview with People magazine, he said: “I was about to sign my record deal, and I really wanted to be in charge of how I came out.

“I didn’t want anyone to take that away from me. I wanted to start going out and going to gay clubs and meeting boys, and I wanted to write songs about love that were true and genuine.”

That decision has ultimately paid dividends. He has managed to have huge success, as indicated by his two hit songs ‘My My My!” and “Bloom.”

Not only that, but Troye has also managed to cross over into the acting industry by having a role in the comedy ‘Three Months.’ This mainstream success has skyrocketed Troye to the point where he has now become a ‘gay icon.’

He added: “[I want] to make a better world for LGBT people that are to come.” The response on social media was firmly in favour of the musician.

A significant proportion of people praised him for continuing to stick by his truth, knowing that it could have had a detrimental impact on his career. After all, there was a chance that he could have alienated the fan base that he had already garnered.

One person wrote: “This is the f***ing best.” Troye could not be in a much better place with his career and personal life. Now that he has managed to feel comfortable with his sexuality, the only way is up.

Hopefully, going forward, things continue to stay that way. So there you have it folks. Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
