AEW has done a lot in a short time in the professional wrestling industry. They’ve put on some incredible matches and shows, brought CM Punk back to professional wrestling, and opened the ‘forbidden door’. Working alongside Impact Wrestling & New Japan Pro Wrestling allowed AEW to bring in some extra names, but a lot was left to be desired. However, AEW owner Tony Khan is once again telling people to keep their eyes open – as The Forbidden Door is set to open again.
Tony Khan Will Be Opening The Forbidden Door Again, Exploring The Free Agent Market
While speaking on Busted Open radio, Tony Khan assured fans that some big things are coming to AEW in the coming weeks and months. He would have the following to say.
“I have to say, I really love listening to the wrestling fans, I love wrestling myself and I’m a fan. I believe the fans give us the direction and it’s up to us to give great shows that the people want to see, I don’t want it to be handed down on high. For me, anytime we can sign somebody that’s going to make the fans excited and come in here and give the fans big matches that they are excited to watch and bring new fans to AEW, it’s a great opportunity for us. I will continue to explore the free agent market and the forbidden door will be opening again soon.”
TJPW, DDT, NJPW, & Impact Wrestling Stars All Expected In AEW?
This comes soon after Jon Moxley would call out the top three Japanese names in New Japan Pro Wrestling. He will be wrestling at their big show coming up in Chicago, and called out Shingo Takagi, Kazuchika Okada & Hiroshi Tanahashi to show up in the United States to fight him. Previously, NJPW has sent Satoshi Kojima, Minoru Suzuki & Yuji Nagata to battle Moxley in AEW.
This means that someone big from NJPW is coming overseas, and this could lead to someone showing up on AEW programming. However, Khan could also be referring to DDT & TJPW sending talents on longer excursions, with Konosuke Takeshita expected to settle into AEW for a while. We also saw Josh Alexander get name dropped on AEW TV, meaning a new deal could be coming with Impact Wrestling could also be in the works.
