While they’ve been focusing on the New Japan Cup, no one has forgotten just how strong a tag team unit that Dangerous Tekkers are. Tonight, they will face the odd CHAOS duo of Kazuchika Okada and Toru Yano in tag team action. Both ZSJ & Okada are still in the New Japan Cup, and remain one of the potential finals of the tournament – making this a potential preview.

Dangerous Tekkers Show They Don’t Fear The IWGP World Heavyweight Champion

This was the first traditional tag team match for Dangerous Tekkers since they got destroyed at Tokyo Dome by CHAOS’s premiere tag team Bishamon. Okada would start with Taichi, and had to dodge an early Rainmaker attempt. Taichi would grab the Greco Roman Throat Hold – before Yano got the tag.

ZSJ would face Yano in the middle of the ring and apply the neck hold – and Taichi would prevent the rope break. Yano would use the hair of ZSJ and get a tag to Okada, who ran him down with a back elbow strike. ZSJ grabbed the Cobra Twist, only to be sent off with a hip toss.

Taichi got the tag and would trade strikes with Okada before looking for the Last Ride – and being instead taken into the neckbreaker. Yano would hit the ring and roll Taichi up for a two count. Taichi caught Yano with the hook kick – only for Yano to rip his pants off and roll him up for two.

Axe Bomber missed, before Taichi would get taken down with a Fireman’s Carry. Taichi came back with the sumo toss, before the hard back elbow smash, and this one was over.

Shingo Takagi Brings Out The Best In Chase Owens

Shingo Takagi claimed that he could beat his Quarter Finals opponent in less than five minutes. Chase Owens took this very personally, and took it upon himself to drop Shingo on a steel chair with a Package Piledriver last night, and then claimed he will slay The Dragon in less than five minutes instead.

What was once a one sided match on paper is now seeming more possible for Owens – and after CIMA defeated Hirooki Goto, fans know that upsets are on the menu. Shingo was fired up however, and Owens knew his time was limited. He’d rush Shingo with stomps before the bell, before being battered with some forearm smashes. Owens would hit a shoulder tackle, but Shingo drove him down with the return. Scoop slam into the senton, before Owens sent Shingo to the floor.

Russian Leg Sweep into the apron and neckbreaker on the floor would follow, before ripping the support tape off the neck. A Russian leg sweep in the corner would follow, before a claw hold on the neck. Shingo would remain in the match, using the bottom rope to escape a pinfall – and this one passed five minutes.

Shingo Takagi Advances To The Quarterfinals Of The New Japan Cup

Owens would hit the knee to the face of Shingo, but again couldn’t get the pinfall. Shingo would block the Package Piledriver, but hurt his neck going for the back body drop. Owens would look for Jewel Heist, but Shingo shot back with a hard lariat.

The DDT would follow before sliding lariat for the two count – but he couldn’t get the suplex. Owens nailed a lariat, but Shingo was able to kick out. C-Trigger to the back of the neck was the plan, but Shingo was able to dodge.

Hip toss into a neckbreaker would get another near fall for Owens, before he nailed the C-Trigger. Package Piledriver on the apron was the plan, but Owens instead took a Death Valley Driver on the floor. Finally, Shingo had a chance – but he’d go high risk with a superplex. Shingo went for the uraken – but Owens caught him with a rolling elbow to the neck.

Made In Japan would land, but only managed a two count. Bad Luck Fale hopped onto the apron, and was able to help with a roll up attempt – but it only got two. Pumping Bomber was met by the C-Trigger. Package Piledriver would fail, but a normal piledriver got a near fall. Pumping Bomber landed, and finally Last of the Dragon ended Chase Owen’s New Japan Cup.
