Actor Sean Penn showed just how dedicated he was to document the events happening in the Russia-Ukraine war, as he admitted to walking miles along the Polish border.
Actor Sean Penn ‘Walked Miles’ Along The Polish Border To Document The Events On The Russia-Ukraine War
There was no obligation for Sean to be there, given that he does not have a cultural affiliation with the country outside of the fact that he is a citizen concerned about what is going on in the world.
And yet, he decided to use his huge public platform in order to make a statement and showcase exactly what was happening during the difficult time. And in order to do so, he admitted to walking with those that were affected.
In an official statement, he said: “Myself & two colleagues walked miles to the Polish border after abandoning our car on the side of the road.
“Almost all the cars in this photo carry women & children only, most without any sign of luggage, and a car their only possession of value.”
Unlike other actors, who have shied away from trying to state their position clearly, Sean has equivalently stated that he condemned the actions by the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In the process of doing so, he praised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for turning down the opportunity to evacuate the country, by instead, choosing to defend his people.
In a statement at the time, he remarked: “President Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people have risen as historic symbols of courage and principle.”
The response on social media was full of praise for the actor. People admired just how much dedication Sean was showing to get the truth out to the people. And as a result, he won over many people along the way.
One person wrote: “I could disagree with Mr Penn about a lot of things. But his last days in Ukraine are ultimate proof of him being an honourable man.”
Sean has managed to play his part in history, and in the process of documenting things, he has managed to show a lot of courage that has epitomised the spirit of the Ukrainian people.
