For the past two years, it’s been hard for professional wrestlers to reliably travel the world. This has left some people eager to get infront of new fans, and made the choice of DDT’s ace Konosuke Takeshita to take an excursion to AEW even easier. He would announce this after dropping the KO-D Openweight Championship at the DDT 25th Anniversary Show – and is ready to expand his professional wrestling horizons.
Konosuke Takeshita Will Be Heading To AEW After April 10th
While he’s no household name to fans in North America, the 26 year old Konosuke Takeshita has been proving he’s one of the best in Japan over the past few years. He’s had one small tour with All Elite Wrestling in the past, mainly working shows like AEW Dark – facing the likes of Danny Limelight.
That match alone made many fans take notice of Takeshita, and it brought some eyes to DDT as a whole. Now, as AEW looks to really start to launch a working relationship with DDT Pro Wrestling – they will again welcome Takeshita into their roster.
Takeshita would announce this – saying that he will be leaving Japan after April 10th. He’d say the following.
”After 4.10, I’ll be going to America for a tour. Of course, it’ll be at AEW . I won’t be going just to wrestle, it’ll be a challenge for Konosuke Takeshita against the world. Until 4.10 please give me your support here.”
His Treatment Could Shape The Future Of AEW Business Deals
Some of the praise for Takeshita has described him as a mix of Kenny Omega & Kota Ibushi, two men who started their careers in DDT. Others have said he has the potential to be the next Hiroshi Tanahashi, one of the biggest stars in wrestling history – and someone still writing his legacy in New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Being compared to legends of the modern era at just 26 years old is a sign of just how good Takeshita is, and we can only hope he’s able to find the spotlight on the AEW roster. How he is treated could shape the future of AEW’s relationship with DDT, so don’t be shocked if Takeshita even claims gold – perhaps setting his sights on the TNT Championship.
