Chris Rock was to present an award for the best documentary features when he made a joke directed at Will Smith’s wife about her being in “G.I Jane” due to her haircut. “Jada, I love you. G. 2, can’t wait to see you,” he said. Jada had revealed a while ago that she had been battling with alopecia which is an autoimmune disease that can cause hair loss, it’s understandable how Jada might have felt.

The 50-year-old actress and wife of Will Smith threw a look at Rock that clearly said “disappointed” as she rolled her eyes, but her husband, Will Smith wasn’t one to just let it go. Will walked to the stage, gave Rock a resounding hit in the face, returned to his seat and then responded angrily “keep my wife’s name out of your f—king mouth.” Rock, in apparent shock, said “wow, Will Smith just smacked the s—t out of me.”
A while later, Will Smith was presented an award as the Best Actor. While the 53-year-old father of two accepted the award, he issued an emotional apology for what transpired between him and Rock. “I want to apologize to the academy. I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees.
This is a beautiful moment.” However, this was not the first time Chris Rock would make jokes directed at Jada as a joke made in 2016 resurfaced on the internet where Rock said “Jada’s gonna boycott the Oscars? Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna’s panties. I wasn’t invited!”
Just as Jada reacted to the 2015 joke Rock made where she stated that “there’s a lot of stuff we gotta handle… we gotta keep it moving,” Will Smith also said something similar last night: You’ve got to be able to have people disrespecting you and you’ve got to smile and pretend like it’s okay.
