Parents Break Silence As Cause Of Stanford Soccer Player, Katie Meyer’s Death Is Revealed
They described that their daughter was worried about facing a disciplinary action from the University, which they believe to be a factor in the young star’s decision to take her life by suicide. Steve Meyer said during the interview, “Katie, being Katie, was defending a teammate on Campus over an incident, and the repercussions of her defending that teammate was possibly resulting in a disciplinary action.”
Gina mentioned that the soccer player was getting a lot of letters about an alleged disciplinary action but she believes there was a final letter that looked like “there was going to be a trial or some kind of something.” She stated that although they have not seen the letter yet, “this is the only thing that we can come up with that triggered something.”
Gina, who was wearing one of Katie’s red sweaters, described the last few days following her daughter’s death as “a parent’s worst nightmare.” She went on to state that she and her husband had spoken to Katie just a few hours before she passed. “She had a lot going on. But she was happy. She was in great spirits. ”
Katie majored in International relations and had once described balancing school life and soccer as challenging but “it’s all she has ever known.” Stanford University has however declined to comment on the alleged disciplinary action the young star was to face.
