Nick Cannon Speaks Out After His Talk Show Was Cancelled After Just Six Months But Fans Were ‘Not Surprised’
The news was somewhat of a surprise, given that it had only lasted one season. But on reflection, it is possible to see why. Nick had been through a lot during that time, which included the death of his son Zen, who was only five-months-old.
This resulted in the star breaking down and announcing the sad news on his show. While it is not nice to see his time come to an end, Nick recognized that show business can be a brutal field.
In an official statement, he said: “This is show business, right? And we know the biggest word in that is ‘business’, and this is a business…Business is the thing that makes this whole thing tick and operate.”
Nick’s comments are understandable for the following reasons. First of all, there is a lot of competition when it comes to talk shows.
Nick was ultimately going up against some of the biggest names around including Ellen, as well as The Kelly Clarkson show. Secondly, given the ratings that his show had managed to generate, it was hardly impressive.
Reports indicated that on average only 400,000 viewers had decided to tune in. Despite the obvious disappointment, Nick had nothing but good words to say about his time.
He added: “This has been a dream come true for me to be able to do this for you each and every day, but my business mind, I want to expand and elevate in a way.”
The reaction from the fans on social media was that this was coming. People simply failed to resonate with the show, while others questioned whether Nick had what it took to make it as a talk show host.
One person wrote: “I’m not surprised he’s simply Mariah Carey’s ex baby daddy. That requires no talent.” As this chapter has now closed, Nick has the chance to focus on other projects.
