DOUKI & Zack Sabre Jr. truly tested each other when they met in the second round of the New Japan Cup – and now they’re back to teaming with each other. Great-O-Khan has ZSJ in the third round of the tournament, and tonight teams with Aaron Henare for some tag team action. Last time ZSJ & O-Khan met in singles action was some of the best technical wrestling of 2021 – and fans will hopefully get a glimpse of that tonight.
Zack Sabre Jr. & Great-O-Khan Are Ready To Fight It Out
ZSJ & Great-O-Khan would kick this match off, with Great-O-Khan sticking around near the ropes – before using his power to shove ZSJ across the ring. ZSJ rushed into another lockup, but got the same result. ZSJ would manage to avoid the claw hold of Great-O-Khan and apply a swift armbar.
The ropes got the save, before DOUKI would tag into the match. Great-O-Khan tossed him to the outside, where Henare laid in some heavy strikes. ZSJ was pulled to the floor soon after, and was thrown back first into the steel barricades. Back in the ring, DOUKI would try to fight off Henare – and was able to get free when Great-O-Khan hit the ring with a step up Enzuguri.
ZSJ would hit the ring with some hard European Uppercuts, before applying the heel hook to Great-O-Khan. Henare came in fast with some closed lists to the gut, before having his arm kicked. DOUKI dove in with a missile dropkick, before a springboard back elbow.
Great-O-Khan & Henare looked for The Imperial Drop, but ZSJ made the save – and DOUKI got the near fall off a double foot stomp. Daybreak DDT was nearly caught into Streets Of Rage, but DOUKI slipped free before a Big Blue Thunder Bomb. Streets Of Rage landed, and this one was over.
YOSHI-HASHI Has Very Little Time To Figure Out Jeff Cobb
YOSHI-HASHI has a massive challenge ahead of him tomorrow when he takes on Jeff Cobb. Tonight, he’s got a chance to share the ring with Cobb & Will Ospreay, as he tags with YOH. Cobb has been all but unstoppable since 2021, so some damage tonight might be essential for YOSHI-HASHI to remain in the New Japan Cup.
YOSHI-HASHI would start the match alongside Cobb, where he was quickly taken up into a suplex. YOH would get the tag and they’d start to work on the knee of Cobb. Ospreay hit the ring but was dropped, before Cobb was kicked into a splash on his own partner. YOH would get some strikes in the corner from Ospreay, before Cobb would stomp him out.
Landing on his feet out of a back suplex, YOH would slip to his corner to complete the tag. Going after that knee once again, YOSHI-HASHI nailed the basement dropkick. He’s found his weak spot, and it was working – and Headhunter would get a two count.
Ospreay tagged in and walked into a Falcon Arrow from YOH – before tossing him into the Spin Cycle from Jeff Cobb. Hidden Blade was drawn, and YOH was out cold – and easily down for the three count.
