Master Wato had his chance to shine against Kazuchika Okada last night, and despite some close calls – was unable to defeat The Rainmaker. Tonight, he teams with fellow IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion Ryusuke Taguchi and Tomoaki Honma for a six man tag – where they will meet Suzuki-Gun members, DOUKI, Taichi & Zack Sabre Jr.
Suzuki-Gun Opens Show With Six Man Tag Team Win, Zack Sabre Jr. & DOUKI Come To Blows
Taguchi would start this match off against ZSJ, and quickly realised there was no messing around tonight from the brit. A simple hammerlock needed a save from Wato, before a double dropkick and elbow drop. ZSJ would regain control and hit uppercuts to the ass of Taguchi right in front of commentary.
Back in the ring, Taguchi applied the Greco Roman Ass Hold, before DOUKI hit a suplex. Taguchi would find the hit attack, and finally was able to tag Wato into the match. The soaring European uppercut would get the two count, before Recientemente was blocked.
Taichi got the tag and took a leg lariat. Honma would hit the ring and miss Kokeshi, and ZSJ rushed in to hit a neck snap. Taguchi would hit a Kokeshi of his own, before Honma wanted to drop Taichi on his head. Instead, the gamiguri would land – and Taichi would take a Rocket Kokeshi in response. Taichi would nail a heavy forearm shot, and that was enough.
On March 12th, ZSJ meets DOUKI – and they’d have a quick scrap after the bell. DOUKI sent ZSJ out of the ring, before he’d flee to the back after ZSJ looked to stretch DOUKI out. This tournament brings out the worst in some, and that can even cause fighting within factions.
CHAOS Defeats Two Thirds Of The NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Champions
Kazuchika Okada is hot off an easy win over Master Wato, but before he reaches Taichi – he will lead CHAOS into battle against EVIL, Dick Togo & SHO. Speaking of fighting within fighting, EVIL is on his way to a clash with Tama Tonga, but can’t look past YOH, Hirooki Goto & Okada tonight. Last night, Goto was able to push to round three after defeating Dick Togo in singles action.
House of Torture would strike before the bell like always, with EVIL signalling out YOH. YOH was able to find his feet, and EVIL would get surrounded by CHAOS and beaten down with a series of strikes. EVIL would regain control, yank YOH to the outside – and drove him into the barricade by the time keepers table.
SHO & Togo would take turns choking YOH in the ring, before SHO was also bending the finger of YOH. The tag to Okada would be completed, with the spear being nearly blocked into the Landslide attempt. SHO slipped out and nailed the spear on the second attempt. Togo got the tag and took the DDT, before Hirooki Goto would tag in.
House of Torture swarmed the ring, and Togo got a two count off a Fisherman Buster. Back in the ring, Goto nailed the Ushigoroshi before applying Shoryu Kekkai for the victory. Next in line for Goto in the New Japan Cup is CIMA.
Aaron Henare Seems Ready For SANADA
Aaron Henare has one of the biggest matches of his career coming up soon, as he faces the IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion SANADA. It’ll be a chance to prove himself, earn a title shot and push forward in the New Japan Cup. However first, with Great-O-Khan & Will Ospreay at his side – he meets SANADA, Shingo Takagi, and BUSHI in a six man tag team match.
Starting this match would be Henare & SANADA, with SANADA controlling the arm and making a quick tag to Shingo. Some falling axe handle strikes would punish Henare, before Paradise Lock was attempted. Henare fought free before hitting the roundhouse kick.
Ospreay would get the tag and throw off some fast strikes, getting this match in the corner of the United Empire. Henare would try to maintain control, but took a backdrop driver. Shingo would hit the ring once again, and quickly caught Henare with a suplex.
Ospreay & Shingo would meet in the ring and exchange blows, before Shingo nailed the DDT on his rival. Back handspring kick would be met by the sliding lariat – before BUSHI would get the tag. United Empire quickly took advantage of the situation, and one Hidden Blade from Ospreay later – this one was done.
