At AEW Revolution, Hangman Page defeated Adam Cole to retain the AEW World Heavyweight Championship in the main event. Cole claimed this was a fluke win, and now Page is ready to give him his final chance. Tonight, they clash in a Texas Deathmatch – meaning submission or knock out gets the win.
In the video package for this match, Hangman Page had the following to say. “Well, they say there are two types of men – those with a loaded gun and those who dig. Adam Cole, you’re almost done digging.” Having already defeated Lance Archer in a Texas Deathmatch, Page knows just what to do in this type of environment. However, Cole is ready for anything – and scared of nothing besides waking up and realising he’s not AEW World Champion.
Adam Cole & Hangman Page Start Off In Brutal Fashion
Before the bell even rang, Page would toss some chairs into the ring before walking down Cole. Both men would arm themselves with chairs and swung for the fences. Cole missed, but Page nailed the ribs of Cole. On the outside, Cole had a chair booted into his face – before taking some mounted punches from the champion.
Page would look for a powerbomb through the time keepers table, but Cole slipped away and took a heavy forearm blow instead. They’d brawl up into the crowd, where Page borrowed a fan’s beer and crushed it into the head of Cole before taking a swig.
Back in the ring, Page would head to the top rope with a chair for a moonsault, and faked out Cole who wanted the anti-air superkick. Cole got all of the moonsault, before being sent head first into a chair set in the corner. After this, Cole was bleeding – and Page punched away at the open wound.
Page pulled out a table to the glee of the fans, before failing to get the suplex. Cole blocked with a knee strike – and when he looked under the ring for a chair, there was one with barbed wire waiting for use. Danhausen was nowhere to be found. In the ring, Page took a seat and a knee strike to the face.
Looking for some chain wrestling, a steel chain was grabbed by Cole – who tied it around the top rope and used it for a lariat on Page. He’d set up back to back chairs, but took a Death Valley Driver spine first instead.
Don’t Talk Trash To A Crazed Champion
Going under the ring, Page would look for more chairs – but didn’t grab the barbed wire one yet. He’d build a pile in the ring, but nearly took Panama Sunrise. Page blocked into the Deadeye, but Cole rolled out of the ring to break the 10 count.
Cole would catch Page out of the sky off the moonsault, nailing a superkick. Back in the ring, Cole hit the Panama Sunrise – and Page was bleeding from the chin – likely from the superkick. Page refused to stay down, and Cole looked for a Super Panama – but Page would counter with a headbutt and a massive fallaway slam onto the pile of Steel Chairs.
Cole would take a seat in a chair, but took two elbows to the face. Both men would sit face to face, and Cole was dared to hit Page. They’d go low for blow Frye/Takayama style, before Cole hit a pump kick and enziguri.
Page hit a superkick and looked for the Buckshot, but Cole caught him – and called him a joke of a champion. A massive buckshot lariat would follow, before Cole was tied to the rope by the belt of Page – and here’s the barbed wire steel chair.
Cole would call the bluff, and Page wouldn’t use it. He didn’t sink the depths of Cole, but took a low blow for it. Superkick party would follow, but Page hit another lariat. He’d wrap the arm in barbed wire. Cole would take a barbed wire lariat to the face, before having it placed around his head – and the Deadeye through the table lead to a ten count for Cole.
