When you’re the AEW World Heavyweight Champion, rest isn’t something that you find often. Following his defeat of Adam Cole at AEW Revolution, Hangman Page is once again ready to defend his championship. This time, it’s the #2 ranked Dante Martin stepping up to the plate. Normally, Martin would have a very low chance of beating the likes of Page – but after another hard fought defense on Sunday, it’s very unlikely that the champion is coming into this one at 100%.
Adam Page Defends AEW World Heavyweight Championship Against Dante Martin – Adam Cole Is A Sore Loser
Being the youngest man to ever challenge for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship, Martin would kick this one off fast – showing his speed against Hangman Page. A shoulder tackle drove him down to the mat, before he’d nail some chops to the chest of Page.
The springboard crossbody would see Page catch Martin, and move right into the Fallaway Slam. Martin went to the apron, and Page hit the springboard lariat. Back in the ring, Page would take some more chops from Martin, before nailing the heavy lariat.
Martin would send Page to the outside, before the moonsault landed. The dropkick off the top rope would see Page catch Martin into a powerbomb. A scuffle on the outside would see Martin shoved into the ring, and dropped with the Buckshot Lariat for the three count.
Tony Schiavone would interview Page following his fourth successful defence – but Page called Martin back into the ring. He’d praise Martin for making the best of the situation with his injured brother, and is proud to have defended the belt against him.
Adam Cole would interrupt this touching moment, and said at Revolution – he proved that Hangman isn’t unstoppable. The victory at Revolution was a fluke, but anyone can get lucky once. Next week on AEW Dynamite – Cole is challenging Page to a six man tag team match, and promises that he will not stop until he gets that AEW World Heavyweight Championship.
Jon Moxley & Bryan Danielson Are A Formidable Tag Team Duo
Bryan Danielson & Jon Moxley gave each other a beating on Sunday at AEW Revolution, but it was the debut of William Regal that got them on the same page. Tonight on AEW Dynamite, they will make their tag team debut in AEW – and with Regal in their corner, they’ll be on the same page… or else. They will take on JD Drake & Anthony Henry – better known to fans as The Workhorsemen.
As the bell rang, Moxley would rush Drake into the corner with some heavy boots. Moxley would follow up with a shoulder tackle, before dodging the spinning chop and nailing the backdrop. Danielson tagged in and nailed some midkicks to the chest and back, before the roundhouse kick to the head. Henry tagged in and took the knee to the midsection, before a kick to the spine.
Quick tags from Danielson & Moxley would see Henry backed into a corner, before blasting out with the dropkick. JD Drake hit the ring once again, and traded chops with Moxley before the King Kong Lariat.
Danielson nailed the running knee strike, while Moxley hit the Paradigm Shift on the floor. In the ring, Drake had his head kicked in before being forced to tap out to the LeBell Lock. This was a dominant tag team debut, and after the bell – it was interview time.
William Regal Is Here To Make An Impact
Tony Schiavone would have a chance to catch up with his old pal, his Lordship – William Regal. It’s been almost three decades since they’ve met, and time is flying by for Regal. He knows that he’s had a rough life, and his time isn’t long for this world.
Regal is determined to leave a legacy, and after his old job no longer needed him – and Danielson name dropped him? It was time to make his next career move. Over the past two decades, William Regal’s training of Bryan Danielson is what has kept him in the conversation. Regal might be a bit of a rogue, but he makes people better at professional wrestling.
Bryan Danielson is the wrestler that Regal wishes he could have been – the perfect wrestler. After everyone left during group training sessions, Danielson was the man who stayed until midnight. He’s the man with the talent of Regal, and without the demons.
Then he met Jon Moxley about eleven years ago – a man who he put through mental and physical hell in FCW. Now, he’s bringing the perfect wrestler and the perfect asskicker together, and that’s bad news for everyone in AEW.
PAC & Wheeler Yuta Get A Last Minute Spot On AEW TV
In response to the AEW World Heavyweight Championship match going shorter than expected, Tony Khan had a last minute match made for Dynamite. It’ll be PAC taking on Wheeler Yuta in a simple exhibition match.
PAC would start fast, beating Yuta down to the mat and choking him by the ropes. His brutal nature has been enhanced during the feud with House Of Black, and Yuta was having a hard time getting out of the gates in this one. He’d nail a snap release German Suplex, before a Manhattan drop into enziguri.
The crossbody out of the corner would get a two count – before Yuta was taken to the top rope for a massive superplex. Brutalizer was applied, and Yuta would quickly tap out.
