According to the Dallas Cowboys front office, they are “in contact” with Dallas police as cornerback Kelvin Joseph is a person of interest in a March shooting death.
Dallas Detectives Interested in Speaking with Cowboys Cornerback Kelvin Joseph
The shooting in question happened on Tuesday, March 18 in Dallas when 20-year-old Cameron Ray and his friends got into a fight with another group. Police report that Ray wasn’t the instigator of this incident.
Following that fight, Ray’s party we’re heading back to their ride but were waylaid by the group from earlier. Shots were fired and Cameron Ray was struck and killed.
According to Dallas PD Detective Tonya McDaniel, Cameron Ray and his friends “encountered a disturbance that they did not start.”
Where the Dallas Cowboys cornerback comes into the picture is that a surveillance video shows one of the attackers wearing a chain with a “YKDV” pendant. According to ESPN, “YKDV Bossman Fat” is the stage name used by Kelvin Joseph when rapping.
It was initially stated that the Cowboys hadn’t spoken to Joseph on the incident—which is extremely hard to believe—but Yahoo’s sources report that the organization has pushed for him to cooperate with the investigation. The organization also issued a statement on the investigation:
“The Dallas Cowboys are aware of the tragic incident that occurred in Dallas on March 18. First and foremost, our hearts go out to Mr. Ray’s family and loved ones. The organization is aware of Kelvin Joseph’s possible connection to this incident. We are in contact with Dallas law enforcement and have alerted the NFL office. We have no further comment at this time.”
