Iyanna Mayweather—the daughter of boxing legend Floyd Mayweather—pleaded guilty to aggravated assault on Wednesday, April 13. The plea comes almost over two years after Iyanna stabbed Lapattra Lashai Jacobs on Saturday, April 4, 2020.
Iyanna Mayweather Pleads Guilty to Aggravated Assault in 2020 Stabbing Altercation
The stabbing occurred after Mayweather arrived at rapper—and father of her child—NBA YoungBoy’s home in Houston during the early hours of April 4, 2020. There she ran into Lapattra Jacobs—the mother of another of YoungBoy’s children—who was also at the rapper’s home. Mayweather claimed to be YoungBoy’s fiancée and attacked Jacobs with two knives in hand.
According to Iyanna, she had never run into Jacobs prior to April 4 but was provoked by the victim whom she says went as far as to yank her hair. Jacobs was stabbed twice in the attack but escaped with cuts to her arm.
Iyanna was arrested and held on bail at the Harris County Jail in Houston while Jacobs underwent surgery for her injuries. Mayweather would pay her $30,000 bail and be released shortly afterward.
In speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Kent Schaffer—the lawyer for Iyanna Mayweather—said the case between Mayweather and the state has been resolved. Schaffer went on to say:
“The agreement calls for Iyanna to be on deferred adjudication for a period of six years after which she will have no felony conviction and the case will be dismissed. She is eligible to have the deferred adjudication end after two years pending her good behavior.”
Schaffer also made sure to point out that Mayweather’s team believed that she was defending herself but this was the best possible option. Iyanna pleaded guilty after agreeing to the terms of six years of probation, 40 hours of community service, and for her to have no contact with the victim.
Mayweather is scheduled for a hearing on Thursday, June 16. In pleading guilty, she was dropped the right to appeal a judge’s decision.
