Right now, AEW is home to some of the greatest talent in the world today. Tony Khan has been able to build an incredible roster, with both names from the past and names who can write the future of professional wrestling in the ranks. One such name is Daniel Garcia, someone who has all the potential in the world – and one way or another, was going to end up with an incredible mentor in 2022.
Originally Set To Join The Blackpool Combat Club
During the early planning stages of the Blackpool Combat Club, Daniel Garcia was originally set to join up with Bryan Danielson & Jon Moxley. He was name dropped in a promo from Danielson, and had a match with Danielson during the build to Revolution.
In the end however, Chris Jericho himself would personally pick Daniel Garcia to be a member of the Jericho Appreciation Society in AEW. We would instead see Wheeler Yuta join the Blackpool Combat Club, after impressing Bryan Danielson in a match, winning the ROH Pure Championship, and engaging in a bloody war with Jon Moxley. Another potential member on the horizon is Shota Umino. Umino is the Young Lion who assisted Jon Moxley in NJPW – and recently faced Jay White at Windy City Riot.
Daniel Garcia Has More To Learn From Chris Jericho
Ultimately, this was the best possible move for the career of young Daniel Garica. He’s already proven time and time again to be one of the best technical wrestlers of his generation, with his victory in the 2021 Battle of Los Angeles tournament really showcasing just how good he is. Undoubtedly he would have improved under the learning tree of Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley & William Regal.
However joining Chris Jericho and taking him as a mentor could enable Garcia to really flesh out his character work and mic skills, two things he’s really lacked since joining AEW. We’ve already seen him make nice jumps in this department – and the J.A.S has only just begun.
Later tonight, Daniel Garcia has a match on AEW Rampage – where he will once again face Eddie Kingston. Do you think the J.A.S was the right move for Daniel Garcia? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
