Scarlett Johansson has spoken out against the rumour that has plagued her for most of her career.

The 37-year-old actress was speaking as part of a Q&A session on the “9 to 5ish with theSkimm” podcast. During the course of that process, she was asked to comment on a headline which she had come across about herself that was striking.
And in response, Scarlett responded to a claim which suggested that she was very close and intimate with actor Benicio del Toro, something which was not true.
In her comments, she said: “There was a rumor that went around for a very long time that said that I had sex in an elevator…That was a story that followed me for a long time, but I always thought that was outrageous.”
Although Scarlett denied doing anything of the sort, Benicio did not help matters when he was asked to address this issue. Rather than outrightly rejecting those claims, the actor seemed to play along by hinting that something may have gone down.
When he was asked about whether or not he had sex with Scarlett in an elevator, he stated: “I kind of like, you know, I, well, I don’t know. Let’s leave that to somebody’s imagination. Let’s not promote it.
“I’m sure it has happened before. It might not be the last time, either.” Even if this did happen, Scarlett has come a long way since that initial rumour emerged.
She is now happily married to Colin Jost, and she could not be in a happier place. The couple recently welcomeD the arrival of their son Cosmo, while Scarlett also has a daughter (Rose) with her ex-husband Romain Dauriac.
Nevertheless, the fans on social media were not convinced. This was based on the fact Benicio did not deny it in the first place. One person wrote: “She’s lying.”
Only the pair really know what went on, but outside of any other alternative explanation to the contrary, we must give Scarlett the benefit of the doubt. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this?
