As of late, we’ve seen lots of big names make their way into the AEW roster. However, few made as much of an immediate impact as Keith Lee. Seemingly a sure thing for WWE after epic encounters with Roman Reigns & Brock Lesnar, and a rapid PPV victory over Randy Orton – Lee was released from WWE in 2021. Alongside the former Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott, Tony Khan is so happy to have them both on his roster – and can’t see how any wrestling company would release either man.
Tony Khan Can’t Believe WWE Would Release Keith Lee & Shane Strickland
While speaking on the Rasslin’ podcast with Brandon F. Walker, Khan would share his thoughts on how WWE released both Lee & Strickland.
“Also, speaking of established stars coming in, Swerve Strickland and right before that Keith Lee. I can’t believe these guys got fired by any wrestling company in the world, I don’t know what the hell you’re thinking if you run a wrestling company and you don’t have a spot for Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee.
I get that there are only so many positions in a company but I think any company that has those guys and, you know, it wasn’t like they’re unreasonable guys. They’re great! I love both guys. They’ve been a huge part of what we’re doing here now, too.”
Currently Both Men Are Feuding With Team Taz?
Right now, both Strickland & Lee are feuding with Team Taz. Keith Lee has clashed with both Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs since his debut, while Strickland has a loss on his AEW record thanks to Starks.
They will team up to face Hobbs & Starks in tag team action on the next episode of AEW Dynamite. Both Lee & Strickland have been praised for their work in AEW so far, and both are expected to win championships sooner rather than later.
