Sheridan is best known for her role as Jerry Seinfeld’s mother in the 90s sitcom Seinfeld. Between 1990 and 1998, she appeared twenty one episodes but holds the distinction of being the only non-main cast member to be in every season of the show.
Seinfeld himself would pay tribute to Liz Sheridan on Twitter calling her “the sweetest, nicest TV mom a son could wish for.”
Liz was always the sweetest, nicest TV mom a son could wish for. Every time she came on our show it was the coziest feeling for me. So lucky to have known her. pic.twitter.com/ae9TDHQILU

Prior to Seinfeld, Sheridan had a lengthy acting career on stage and screen as singer, actress, dancer at different periods. Being her career as a dancer and singer during the 1950s, she would strike up a brief relationship with 1950s heartthrob James Dean in 1952.
She would touch on pre-fame James Dean in her 2000 book Dizzy & Jimmy: My Life with James Dean: A Love Story. While her time with Dean was short, Liz Sheradan would strike up a friendship with Bewitched star Elizabeth Montgomery with both sharing a love of horses.
Her path in entertainment took her to the Caribbean, where she was staying when she heard Dean had died in a car accident. When Sheridan returned to the lower 48 in the 1960s, she took to stage acting. It wouldn’t be until the late 1970s when she made her television debut in a season four episode of Kojak.
Sheridan would appear in numerous TV shows in one-off roles until 1986 when she was cast in a reoccurring role as the nosy neighbor Raquel Ochomek in the NBC sitcom ALF. However, her biggest role would come as Helen Seinfeld, the mother of the show’s titular character.
Following Seinfeld, Liz Sheridan remained in demand and would make appearances throughout the 90s and 2000s on television. Her last credit is in the CNN documentary History of the Sitcom.
Sheridan’s cause of death has been reported as natural causes.
