Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz of ‘Vanderpump Rules’ fame recently announced the end of their marriage and now Katie is spilling the details about ultimately what led her to file for divorce from Tom.
Katie, 35, candidly shared her feelings about Tom, 39, how he failed to meet her expectations, and how his commitment issues played a major role in their split. ““I really thought that we were gonna make it work. I felt that we had overcome a lot together.

I felt that we had grown together, and I thought that we would continue growing together. I was very optimistic,” Katie recounted during the April 10 episode of the We Met At Acme podcast.
Katie went on to admit that she began to question their marriage towards the end of 2021 but hoped that Tom would have an ‘epiphany’ that would result in a change in behavior to solve their marital troubles.
“I had been expressing my feelings and where I felt that I was not getting my needs met and where I thought I was being hurt by some of the behavior, and I don’t think he understood or resonated or agreed. I think he thought that I was just gonna get over it or something”.
The reality star also described the ‘red flags’ she brushed aside at the beginning of their relationship, including Tom’s apparent aversion to settling down. “I felt like he was always very commitment-phobic in ways. And I was, you know, wanting to take natural progressions was always something I wanted. And he was being naughty. And so I was like, you know, it’s time for you to make the real commitment”.
Katie also defined Tom as a ‘people pleaser’ and said that she felt like she wasn’t being supported, noting that he “tended to take his buddy’s side or anyone else’s side”. Further elaborating, Katie stated that Tom’s indifference “was a common thread throughout the relationship that was frustrating to me.”
In true Tom Schwartz fashion, he took a lackadaisical approach when his wife told him her plans to file for divorce. He “didn’t really do anything,” said Katie, who noted that Tom “didn’t necessarily agree” with her decision but also didn’t put in the effort to contest it.
The exes, who had been together for twelve years and married for three, have had an amicable breakup so far. They continue living together in their $1.9 million dollar home in Los Angeles and they have both been spotted at events with other ‘Vanderpump Rules’ cast members of the past and present.
