Right now, it’s become very clear that FTR are simply on another level compared to other tag teams in the world. Long considered one of the best, a recent face turn has put them to the next level both in their in-ring abilities, and with fan reactions. AEW have recognized this and likely have them on the path to becoming the first ever two time AEW World Tag Team Champions – but there is interest from WWE when it comes to getting FTR back on their roster.
WWE Want To Bring The Revival Back Following Their Recent Success
While it feels like ages ago, FTR were previously in WWE – and were quite successful there. Under the ring name of The Revival, they claimed the NXT, Smackdown & RAW Tag Team Championships during their tenure. Their time in NXT was capped off with incredible matches against American Alpha & D.I.Y, still considered by some to be the best tag team matches in WWE history.
However, near the end of their run – WWE wanted them to become more comedic characters, prompting them to leave the company despite being offered big money contracts. Now with all their recent hype, WWE are once again interested in bringing FTR back to their roster. This was first reported by Fightful Select, who also noted that no direct contact have been made to FTR.
AEW Can Pick Up Another Year Of FTR’s Contract
Right now, their AEW deals are potentially coming to an end – but have a one year option that AEW are very likely to pick up. They have been set up for a tag team encounter with reDRagon, a match which WWE held back in November of 2019 on their NXT brand.
Following that, it’s expected that FTR will challenge Jurassic Express for the AEW World Tag Team Championships, perhaps even becoming the first ever two time champions in company history. Meanwhile, they also have an indy date set – where they will be managed by Bret Hart.
