Seeing a former First Lady of the White House at a racing event was the last thing that fans could have been expected to see. And yet, there is more to Michelle than meets the eye.
In fact, it is even possible to go as far as saying that she is a massive fan of Lewis’ work. The British racer had been preparing for his practice session when she decided to pop in.
In the pictures here, we can see them embracing each other. They have huge smiles on their faces, as they appear to be in awe. So did Michelle’s appearance have an impact on Lewis’ racing?
Well, he did not do as well as he would have expected to have done. Lewis ended up finishing 6th on the qualifying grid, which means he does have some work to do if he wants to walk away with a victory.
And that is precisely the feeling that Hamilton expressed. In his comments following qualifying, he said: “[It was] nerve-wracking going into qualifying.
“We don’t know why we were looking faster than we were … we’re not going to take a step forward, we’ve just got to put the work in.”
The fans on social media had a lot to say about Michelle’s appearance at the race. People were of the view that she did not know much about the sport. And in the process of doing so, they began to make derogatory remarks about her.
One person wrote: “Racing heritage right there,” while another person stated: “Don’t think Lewis is carrying the sport by having Mrs. Obama and Lucas in the garrage but ok.”
