MJF Walks Out From AEW Double Or Nothing After Contract Dispute?

We’re not ever 24 hours away AEW’s biggest PPV of the year, and one of the biggest stars in the company might have just walked out of the company. After some backstage contract disputes, MJF could be on his way out of AEW as a whole – leaving Wardlow high and dry.

MJF Wants More Money For His Work In AEW, Without Signing An Extension

It’s been well known that MJF had a contract for four years in AEW. This was set to expire in January 2024, something he has referenced multiple times in interviews and promos alike. However, when MJF signed – he was a small name, having experienced rapid growth in AEW. Now, he’s one of their biggest names – but his contract does not reflect this.

AEW has reportedly offered MJF a raise so he would be making the same amount as other top stars, but with the added condition of a one-year extension. MJF would refuse this deal. Now, after no-showing AEW Fan Fest, he would reportedly book a flight away from Las Vegas, where Double or Nothing is set to take place.

Needless to say, if MJF has abandoned ship in AEW – this will likely reflect incredibly poorly on any future prospects in the industry. Trust is more important than anything, and blowing off a match with over two years of build? That is something no promoter worth their salt wants to deal with.

Wardlow Might Not Get His Star Making Moment

While AEW as a whole will recover fine from this, the career of Wardlow was set to take off at Double or Nothing. For the past two years, Wardlow’s slow burn split from his employer MJF might have been one of the best told in professional wrestling. Things hit a fever pitch following AEW Revolution, where he refused to help MJF after earning a TNT title shot.

Now, if MJF has truly dipped from this event – Wardlow will not get his star-making moment. This alone has fans feeling incredibly sour towards MJF, viewing him as incredibly selfish. Things have not been been 100% confirmed yet from AEW, but as the situation stands – we should not expect MJF at this PPV event.

AEW have been posting advertising for this match on Instagram, and are likely doing everything possible behind the scenes to ensure fans get the match card they paid for. Will MJF appear at Double or Nothing? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.

Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
