Yoshinobu Kanemaru might only have two wins at this point of the tournament, but it’s how dominant those two wins are. He beat defending BOSJ winner Hiromu Takahashi in six minutes, and current IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Taiji Ishimori in just over two minutes. Tonight, he faces the brash young Clark Connors in one on one action, and could be looking for another fast win.
Yoshinobu Kanemaru Gets Run Over By Clark Connors
Kanemaru would be able to stomp Connors to start this match, before being run through by a shoulder tackle. Connors would almost get rolled up for a three count after a failed Trophy Kill attempt, but was able to stay in the match. Jeep Flip would land, and Kanemaru played opossum and grabbed a roll up.
A snap powerslam would follow from Connors, before Kanemaru grabbed another near fall off a roll up. Spear and Trophy Kill would follow. Connors wins, his third win in a row – and this is something that can be called a streak. Kanemaru got the wins he wanted, and was unable to block the Wild Rhino tonight.
Alex Zayne Doesn’t Fear The Tactics Of Taguchi
Alex Zayne finally tasted defeat when he faced his travel buddy Ace Austin last night, but is ready to get back in the winning side of the bracket as he faces the crafty veteran Ryusuke Taguchi. Taguchi had a nearly perfect plan last night against SHO, but fell to a numbers game – but Zayne rides alone, allowing Taguchi to better plan his attack.
Zayne would kick things off with a wrist lock, before moving into a side headlock. Taguchi was taken down, before Zayne hit a knee drop to the back. Some forearms to the jaw in the corner would be met by Zayne getting yanked into the rear of Taguchi in the corner, before a flying hip attack off the apron.
Taguchi would tease the Boma-Ye in the ring, only to try and catch Zayne with that ankle lock. Zayne fought free before going for the front-flip leg drop. Taguchi dodged and pulled the tights down with a Boma-Ye, before Zayne did the unexpected and bit the ass of Taguchi.
This gave even Taguchi pause, before he’d apply the Ankle Lock. Zayne slipped out and looked for Baja Blast. Taguchi avoided impact, but took a kick to the head and the Cinnamon Twist off the top rope. Taguchi is eliminated from the running of the finals, while Zayne moves to eight points.
