Both Clark Connors & SHO have yet to claim a singles win in this tournament, but one will get on the board here tonight. SHO has been over relying on some of his more devious tricks, and has been unable to make them work against Francesco Akira or Alex Zayne. He might instead rely on his incredible natural skill that has won him gold and gotten wins over the likes of Shingo Takagi – or Connors will just once again foil his cheating ways.
SHO Finds A Winning Strategy
SHO would attack Connors from behind as he made his way to the ring, but was unable to gain immediate control. It’d take a steel chair to get SHO some control, but a spear from Connors was seemingly much more effective. Finally both men hit the ring and made this match official.
Connors would look for a suplex down down the floor, but was tripped up before being sent to the floor with a dropkick. SHO would look to use the bell hammer, but it was a ruse to use the steel chair to attack the arm. Connors would be taken far away from the ring, SHO looking for a count out victory.
SHO wouldn’t get the easy out, as Connors hit the ring at the count of 19. Connors would be able to nail the pounce on SHO, but was feeling the damage to the arm. Launching SHO out of the corner, Connors went up top rope to hit the Extinction Elbow.
The German Suplex would be blocked, before SHO would cut Connors down with some kicks. Connors hit the release German Suplex before a snap powerslam. SHO would hit a low blow and got the roll up with a handful of tights for the victory, stealing two points in the process.
Never Count Out Franceso Akira
‘I’ll take great care of the butt’ was Francesco Akira’s pre-tournament comment on Ryusuke Taguchi and the… unique style he tends to bring to the table. However, there is very little way to scout Taguchi besides just sharing the ring with him. Akira has not been involved in undercard tag team matches on this tour however, so could find himself caught by the unique style of Taguchi.
Taguchi would take Akira to the ropes as this one started, but allowed the clean break. Akira was sent to the floor with an armdrag, before Taguchi would send him running. The flying hip attack was countered into a manhattan drop, before Akira hit a dive to the outside.
Akira would apply a neck crank in the ring, with Taguchi fighting free. Chops would be thrown, before Taguchi would nail the Three Amigos. Some near falls would follow, before Akira nailed the shotgun dropkick and Speedfire. Taguchi remained in the fight, with both men trading forearm smashes.
Fireball would miss with Taguchi looking for Dodon. Akira would try for a roll up and get the ankle lock instead. Taguchi would end up getting control of a roll up, and held Akira down for the upset win. Akira was angry, and was not able to take great care.
Will Franceso Akira regain his footing after back to back losses? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
