In late May 2022, it was reported that actor Owen Wilson had been a victim of a rimjacking. The 53-year-old actor was inside his mansion when thieves nabbed the rims off of his Tesla on May 26. Now photos of the aftermath show a sad sight for any car owner.

From TMZ’s photos, you can see Wilson’s car propped up on crates. His car is both rim-less and wheel-less. These thieves stripped the car of anything of value on the exterior. When something of this nature happens, we often hear about it happening when the victim is out and about and away from their car for a lengthy period in a “sketchy” area or an area known for significant crime.
The point is that there are some places in a city where you expect that something could happen to your vehicle that is mostly beyond your control. Rarely will you hear of a rimjacking in an upscale suburban neighborhood and surely not while the victim is just inside their home in said neighborhood. To make things worse for Owen Wilson, the theft went down outside of his California mansion the night before.
There’s a hit and a sting there, folks. No one wants to have their car jacked up on crates but there’s just an extra layer of “Are you serious?” when your car has its rims stolen in front of your house for the whole neighborhood to see.
Currently, police are investigating the situation and hoping to turn up something via surveillance cameras in the area. The rim thieves made off with a total of $4,000 in Wilson’s property.
