Last night at AEW Blood & Guts – not everyone made it out of the double ringed cage the same way they went. It was an incredibly violent match, with plenty of blood spilt, thumb tacks stuck in the backs of wrestlers, and even Sammy Guevara being tossed from the top of the cage through a table. However, a simple wrestling move from Santana might have caused the most serious injury of the match.
Santana Helped To The Back Following Blood & Guts
When Santana hit the ring, he would burst into the fray – and would hit a uranage. During this, his knee would buckle – and he’d roll to the side of the cage to speak with the ringside doctor. He would not be factored into the rest of the match, with the camera trying it’s best to not get Santana in shots.
At the conclusion of the match, the rest of his team would celebrate on top of the cage – with Santana absent. Fans in the arena would note that he was helped to the back. This is potentially just the latest injury in AEW, with the recent list including CM Punk with a broken foot, Bryan Danielson & Adam Cole with concussions, and Scorpio Sky is just returning from a minor leg injury.
Fans Concerned About The Back Of Eddie Kingston As Well
There is also some concern that Eddie Kingston suffered a back injury during the match – but no reports of injury have followed the match. Kingston was simply moving awkwardly during the final moments of the match – and seemed stiff during the celebrations. Fans are rightfully concerned about everyone who was involved in the match, and hope they all get a few weeks off from in-ring action to recover.
In the end, it was Claudio Castangoli who claimed the victory with a sharpshooter on the top of the cage. Eddie Kingston was close to tapping Jericho out with the Stretch Plum, leading to a small argument – which could blow up into a bigger feud as time goes on. Kingston & Claudio have been rivals for years, and are expected to carry this over to AEW.
