Tom Hanks went out of character when he confronted a group of overzealous fans, who happened to get too close to his wife Rita Wilson.

Tom, for his part, has been married to Rita for over three decades. And during the course of that process, they ended up raising two children together: Chet and Truman.
Therefore, it is natural that he would feel overprotective of her in a situation where there was a chance that she could get hurt. And so it showed in the following clip.
In the clip here, we can see the couple walking through a crowd in and amongst the flash photography. As they make their way towards the car, a group of fans almost knocked Rita over.
That naturally did not go down very well with Tom, who felt he had no option but to hit back. In his comments, he said: “My wife? Back the f–k off! Knocking over my wife?!” to which one person replied: “Sorry about that, Tom.”
This is the last thing that Tom needed, especially since he was focused on promoting his film “Elvis.’ But rather than the headlines centring around that, it seems that Tom’s hot-headed nature is what captivated the fanbase on social media.
The response on social media was mixed. A certain subset of people were of the view that Tom was justified in feeling outraged. After all, who knows what could have happened on another day.
Meanwhile, others felt that this was part and parcel of being in the public eye. One person wrote: “Listen Mr.Hanks, if you are just out and about without security, it’s your own fault.
“You don’t live in reality. Fans are going to mob you. A fan would love to be on the news for their 15 minutes of fame for causing you harm! My God man wake up! Hire security!!!”
