The royal family has somewhat come together to celebrate the momentous occasion of Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, but Prince William and Kate Middleton have very noticeably kept their distance from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Despite attending the same events, the tension between William and Harry is palpable and the brothers have made obvious efforts to stay as far away from one another as possible. While Harry and Meghan have essentially abandoned the royal family and tried to sully their reputation, some remain hopeful that the Cambridges and the Sussexes will be able make peace at the behest of the Queen.
Will Prince William and Kate Middleton Have Dinner With Prince Harry and Meghan Markle? Queen Wants Family United
Her majesty seems to have forgiven Harry and Meghan for their apparent campaign to slander the royal family with accusations of racism and neglect. Over her Jubilee weekend the Queen has had several meetings with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and has even met their daughter Lilibet for the first time.
Harry and Meghan also have managed to maintain an amicable relationship with Prince Charles, as they were spotted leaving his home while they were in the UK for the Jubilee. Would it be possible for William and Kate to have dinner with Harry and Meghan, despite their blatant disrespect for the royals?
There was a glimmer of hope for a reconciliation when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wished Lilibet a happy first birthday on their joint Twitter account, despite not having met the toddler as of yet. William and Harry have not shown any interest or signs of interaction during public appearances, leading many to believe that their once strong bond has been diminished forever.
Harry opened up to Oprah Winfrey during a 2020 interview and touched briefly on his feelings toward William. “I’ve said before, I love William to bits. He’s my brother. We’ve been through hell together. I mean, we have a shared experience. But we . . . you know, we’re on . . . we’re on different paths.” This was also the same interview that both Harry and Meghan made very serious accusations about the royals and listed a litany of reasons as to why they had to step down from the family.
According to a source, it seems rather unlikely that the estranged family is ready to mend fences, “At the moment, it does not look likely that Harry and Meghan and William and Kate will meet up separately during the Jubilee celebrations. There is certainly nothing in the diary at the moment,” said a source.
If William and Kate have a meeting with Harry and Meghan while they’re in Britain for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, it will very likely be kept private…but a reunion is seemingly improbable at this time.
