Diamond Mine takes a match no matter what, is what Roderick Strong has been preaching to The Creed Brothers & Ivy Nile. However, recently his words were twisted back to him and his new trainee, Damon Kemp. Tonight, Strong & Demp are in tag team action, as they take on the duo of Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde. Del Toro & Wilde are members of Legado Del Fantasma, which was recently taken over by Tony D’Angelo, who will be watching very closely here tonight.
Wes Lee Is Honest With The Fans
Before this tag team match however, we’d catch up with former two time NXT Tag Team Champion Wes Lee. He’s gotten a few big singles wins in a row, mainly taking down ‘The Samoan Ghost’ Xyon Quinn. Now tonight, he’s got a live microphone and some time in the ring – and intends to make good on it.
Lee would say that he loves that the fans still support him. He needs that after the past three months he’s had. He’s gone from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows, and from no fault of his own. Lee went from a tag team champion with his best friend, only to have it all explode.
He has been running on pain and anger, and all while trying to prove he still belongs on this brand. Trick Williams would crash this and tell Lee to shut up, saying no one wants to hear the sob story. Maybe the truth is, he left his best friend behind – and all of this is on Lee.
However, Williams wouldn’t understand being for someone, as Williams just plays second fiddle to Hayes. Williams would just leave without a fight, but this situation is far from done.
Diamond Mine Crush Legado Del Fantasma
Strong would start with Wilde, and was able to take him down to the mat. Del Toro got the tag and hit the lionsault, before Kemp got the tag and showed his mat wrestling skill – but was outsped. Strong would try to coach and fire up Demp, and a slam & suplex would be followed by a spear.
Ground and Pound strikes would follow, before Strong got the tag. Wilde would hit a slick armdrag before a jawbreaker. Strong would hit the backbreaker, and Kemp ran through Wilde with a lariat. Some mounted elbow smashes followed, before Kemp tagged out.
Del Toro hit a flying crossbody and dropkick, before sending Strong into the corner. Running kick would land, before a rope walk dropkick for a two count. Angle Slam landed, before Wilde would take out Kemp on the floor with a dive. Two Dimes would trip Del Toro from the outside, before Strong hit a knee strike for the win.
Cameron Grimes Defeats Edris Enofe Ahead Of NXT Championship Match
Cameron Grimes is set to challenge Bron Breakker for the NXT Championship at Great American Bash, after calling out the champion last week for getting these big chances in NXT using his family name. Grimes also had some choice words for Edris Enofe & Malik Blade, who intended to leave NXT 2.0 before the main event – with Grimes calling them lazy and insisting they aren’t putting in enough effort. Tonight, Grimes goes one on one with Enofe, and has a chance to see just how much work Enofe is putting in.
Grimes would shoot for the single leg takedown, before Enofe blocked. Armbar was attempted, before Grimes would block into a wrist lock. Grimes blocked an armdrag before missing a PK. Inside cradle from Enofe got a one count, before he’d check the jaw of Grimes with a dropkick.
Hurricanrana sent Enofe to the floor, where Grimes hit the PK off the apron. Diving crossbody would get a two count, before a boot to the chest. Enofe called for more kicks, before he’d fire up with some strikes. Forearm smash would be met with a jumping kee, causing a double down.
Grimes would be set up in the ropes for a running uppercut and knee strike, before Enofe hit a dive to the floor. 450 Splash missed before the spin out side slam. Cave-In landed, and this one was over.
