Britney Spears has officially embarked on her journey back into the music industry after a long hiatus, according to new reports from Page Six. Spears has stepped back into the recording studio alongside Elton John to lay down vocals for a remake of his classic hit, ‘Tiny Dancer’.
Insiders revealed that the pop star and the piano man secretly met up in Beverly Hills on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week to record the track. The audio is allegedly set to be released by Universal Music some time in August, with Andrew Watt serving as producer.
Britney Spears Returns To The Recording For ‘Tiny Dancer’ Duet With Elton: ‘Britney Is Officially Back’
This was Elton’s idea, and Britney is a huge fan. They have recorded a remix of ‘Tiny Dancer’ as a full duet — and it is incredible,” revealed an inside source. “They’ve already played it for people at their record label, and everybody is freaking out. It is so good. They are saying this is going to be the song of the summer.” The source also added, “Britney is officially back.”
She’s back to work, and she’s super excited.” This would be a huge step in the right direction for Britney’s music career, after stepping back from the entertainment industry while she was still under a conservatorship that allowed her father, Jamie Spears, almost complete control over her finances and her day-to-day life. Britney has recently mentioned her fears of venturing back into music because of her past negative experiences, but that hasn’t stopped her fans from wanting her to record new songs.
Since her conservatorship ended in November 2021, Britney has been slowly rediscovering her love of singing. Last week, Spears posted a clip to her Instagram account of herself singing a reminagined version of her 1999 hit song, ‘Baby One More Time’. In the clip, Britney adjusts the lyrics to say, “give me a f**king sign” while explaining how she felt about finally showcasing her voice to the public for the first time in years. “I haven’t shared my voice in an extremely long time … maybe too long,” she shared.
“And here’s me playing at my house with a different version of “Baby”. Britney then ranted about how she hadn’t been allowed to re-record her first hit single the way she wanted to sing it. Britney says that despite her repeated requests to sing the song how she envisioned it, she was never given the green light, while her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, had performed a rendition of classic Britney songs during the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards. “Well I have asked for what I wanted for 14 years…a different version of “Baby” but have the producers actually work for me and put it together…a start…but as the TEAM said NO and serves me with 4 girls, my sister included, doing a 5 minute version of 4 remixed songs to a T not even having to give effort or dance… just shot it beautifully and the sound was NEW!!!”
Britney further expressed her thoughts on her creativity being limited under the strict conservatorship, saying”, They ruined it for me, embarrassed me and made me feel like absolutely nothing !!! The truth is a f**king bitch !!! I share this because I am aware of my love and passion to sing … and my own family made a fool of me.”
