Christina McNown, the wife of collegiate football Hall of Fame QB Cade McNown, received 500 hours of community service after pleading no contest to petty theft. The sentence was handed down on July 18, 2022 and will also include theft classes and an order to keep her distance from victim Sydney Holland.
Christina McNown Given 500 Hours of Community Service After Pleading “No Contest” on Petty Theft Charges
McNown was arrested in December 2021 after allegedly swiping purses, clothes, and jewelry totaling in the hundreds of thousands from her former boss, the philanthropist Sydney Holland. She had worked for Holland for 12 years before she began putting an extra slice of cheese on her burger by stealing from Holland starting.
An investigation was started in October 2021 which pointed to Christina McNown as the thief. In defending McNown, lawyer Michael Artan managed to get the charges down to four purses being stolen—a feat that he is keen to point out. Artan also notes that Christina has entered a misdemeanor diversion program and will have a year to knock out the 500 hours of community service and her theft course.
Holland’s lawyer, Karen Sosa, had this to say of the plea:
“With her plea today, Ms. McNown is being held responsible for her numerous thefts from Ms. Holland, which cost Ms. Holland hundreds of thousands of dollars, not to mention the loss of irreplaceable items with sentimental value. We hope Ms. McNown reflects on her behavior and does not repeat these crimes in the future.”
A question for the readers! Do you believe Christina McNown only nabbed four purses in 2021? The incident was being investigated for two months and she had been working for Sydney Holland for 12 years at that point.
If she started stealing from her in 2021, do you believe she only took the purses or it is as Holland claims and she also took clothes and jewelry? Let us know what you believe in the comments!
