Jennifer Lopez surprised the world by marrying Ben Affleck in Las Vegas on July 16th. Today, on July 24th she is turning 53. And for her birthday she decides to expand her business empire by launching a new product. JLo Body by JLo Beauty is the product’s name. For the campaign, she decides to take a nude photo, while putting the focus on one of her most recognizable assets, her booty.
“We already have some amazing products targeting tightening and firming for the face, so a product for the body that addressed those same issues was a natural next step for us.” – Jennifer Lopez states for People magazine. “It was also the body part that our consumers wanted a targeted treatment for, and they couldn’t find it on the market.”
Her backside is the most recognizable asset that she owns, aside from her voice, of course. So she claims that for whole her life she was thinking of developing something that will help women with cellulite issues.
“I remember her wishing that there was some magic formula that was just going to make it disappear.” – Lopez says. “And the truth is, we finally know that doesn’t exist.”
“Working with scientists, we have found that it really does improve the appearance of the skin.” – Lopez says. She adds that the product consists of pink pepper slim, guarana seed extract, caffeine, peptides, and hydrators. All of these ingredients are carefully chosen to maximize the effect of the product. Some of the ingredients fade the stretchmarks, others make the skin smoother and tighter, while hydrators help with giving the skin a healthy look.
“We’re not just taking a random cream and slapping my name on it.” – JLo boldly claims. “It works.”
She notices that many people across the globe do not care enough for their bodies. According to her, this needs to change. She claims that she says this not only to boost the sales of her products but to raise awareness of people. To make them pay more attention to their looks.
“A lot of people invest in skincare for their face, but they don’t invest in self-care and skincare for their body,” she says. “I don’t necessarily mean spending money, but instead taking time to cleanse, moisturize, use serums and masks. I want to normalize taking care of yourself. It’s not a selfish thing. It’s a nourishing thing. If you can’t take care of yourself, you certainly cannot take care of anybody else.”
She finalizes the speech about her product by saying that she doesn’t agree that age is something that limits how sexy you can look. The beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
“I really dislike the phrase, ‘You look good for 40, or you look good for 30, you look good for 50.’ How about you just ‘you look good?’”
