Robinson was scheduled to perform at the Comedy Zone comedy club in Charlotte, NC last Saturday when gunshots started around 9 PM. According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, the suspect flashed his firearm as he entered the Comedy Zone.
He would then demand that everyone clear the venue before firing a shot. Craig Robinson and others in the club fled the scene. The comedian made his way over to the Metro Credit Union Amphitheater which was hosting a Big Time Rush performance.
The suspect was apprehended shortly afterward. Fortunately, no one was hurt by the suspect or in leaving the Comedy Zone. Robinson would let everyone that he was safe and gave his account of the event on Instagram saying “I’m safe. I’m cool. It was wild I was in the green room and they’re like ‘everybody get out!’ It was a moment for sure.”
In a follow-up post, Robinson thanked everyone for checking on him, the security and staff for making sure everyone got out safely, and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg PD for handling the situation and arresting the shooter.
Craig Robinson is best known for his time as Darryl on The Office, Doug Judy on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, as a judge on The Masked Singer, and the host of The Masked Dancer. His new show, Killing It was recently renewed for a second season on Peacock.
