As if the six-weeks long trial was not enough, the stories and the dispute between the actor and his ex-wife Amber Heard is nowhere near an ending. The actress is now asking for a revision of the decision from the judge and the jury. She says one of the jurors is already siding with Depp even before the trial started.
Amber Heard didn’t release a statement if the juror received money for his ‘vote’. However, to back up her claims she has evidence for juror replacement, just days before the start of the trial.
Furthermore, Heard argues that the sum of $10 million seems like too much. But, Johnny Depp states that is too less of a price to pay for the money he lost due to her defamation article in the Washington Post.
Johnny Depp Laughs At Amber Heard’s Try To Overturn The $10 Million Judgement
As expected, Depp’s lawyers are not agreeing with Amber on this. They are completely sure that there are no irregularities in the case. They remind the actress once more that there is a direct link in the stoppage of some of his most profitable roles, exactly due to the article that she published. As a result of the defamation, he did not even step into a filming studio until October 2020. And this resulted in a much greater loss than the $10 million that Amber is to pay him.
To back this up, Johnny Depp has witnesses and documentation hinting the start of the negotiations for the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 6’. This project alone should have added about $22 million to Johnny Depp’s account. The stoppage of these negotiations came only after the defamation article was published.
So this, and many more missed opportunities sum up to more than $40 million. According to Depp, the $10 million are less than the righteous amount that she needs to pay. However, due to his goodwill, he settled with $10 million. Amber Heard not accepting her faith and paying this amount is offensive to him, to say the least.
According to TMZ’s article, Amber Heard asked for this re-trial last week. Allegedly, there was a switch of one of the jurors days before the start of the trial. Her legal team releases a statement that the initial juror was subpoenaed, and someone with the same surname took over in his position. Reportedly, that is his son, who might have had some biased views on the case. And this, requires a new trial, the actress says.
Depp’s team requests a dismissal of this request because if Heard had something against it, she could have argued about it at the beginning of the trial. This information was available from the very beginning. Since she didn’t object then, now it is a little bit too late. Bad for her. She needs to live with it. And pay up what she owes.
