Miley Cyrus’ sister Noah Cyrus opened up about her struggles with substance abuse.
Miley Cyrus’ Sister Noah Recalls Her Xanax Addiction
The 22-year-old is the younger sibling of Miley, and yet, she has had to deal with very difficult issues. The star expanded on how she got addicted to the drug Xanax during the course of her time with a boyfriend when she was just 18.
And it was then that he had given her the drug as they bonded over it. The drug is usually used in order to treat panic and anxiety attacks. But it soon became clear that Noah was doing this for all the wrong reasons.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, she said: “It became a way for us to bond. I think I wanted to fit in with him. I wanted to be what he wanted and what he thought was cool and what I thought everybody was doing.”
One of the things that did not help Noah’s cause was the ease in which she was able to get hold of the drug. After all, she does belong to a high-profile family as her father Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley are some of the biggest musicians in the world.
And by being in those circles, there was no limit over what she could get hold of. That is when things began to get out of control, as Noah became consumed by the drug.
Her following comments confirmed as much: “Once I felt that it was possible to silence things out for a second and numb your pain, it was over. It just kind of becomes this dark pit.”
Nevertheless, that was the moment that Noah realised things needed to change. In doing so, she decided to get professional help in 2020. And through it all, she managed to get out on the other side.
And that can only be a good thing for her going forward. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
