Both JONAH & Tom Lawlor are representing NJPW Strong in the G1 Climax this year, and tonight they clash in tag team action before an eventual A-Block meeting. JONAH lost his first tournament match to Toru Yano, while Lawlor hasn’t had his first tournament match yet, and with Bad Dude Tito & Royce Isaacs on hand? This one could be a fight worth remembering.
JONAH Shows His Might, And Refuses To Kneel
JONAH would kick things off with Isaacs, and would quickly grab a rear waistlock, before Isaacs grabbed the top rope. Isaacs would be run down with the shoulder tackle, before Tito & Lawlor got tags. Tito would look to get the ankle lock applied, before Lawlor slipped free and would look for the Lawlor Lock – a signature submission hold.
Lawlor would be unable to get Tito out, before moving into the chokehold – but Tito found the ropes. JONAH & Tio would work together to put Lawlor down. JONAH would apply the Mudcrab on Lawlor, and Isaacs failed to make the save before Lawlor found the bottom rope. Tito would take a kick to the spine, before Lawlor planted him with the spinebuster.
Isaacs followed up with some forearm smashes, before Tito hit a double blockbuster from the middle rope. JONAH got the tag alongside Isaacs, before hitting the double Samoan Drop. Issacs hit the German Suplex, before JONAH hit the Black Forest Bomb for the victory. JONAH & Lawlor meet on July 30th in singles action.
United Empire Run The G1 Climax This Year
House of Torture might often be off doing their own thing, but tonight they unite with BULLET CLUB for a eight man tag team match. El Phantasmo gets a chance to potentially redeem his night one loss to Will Ospreay, as he teams with EVIL, SHO & Dick Togo to face United Empire.
House of Torture attacked before the bell, and Togo once again decided “I can beat Cobb”, before being dropped and yanked in four different directions. Cobb would ride Togo like a surfboard, before ELP would trip Ospreay up and turned this one into a brawl on the floor.
ELP has his back rakes, before SHO kept the beating coming in the ring Ospreay took another back rake from ELP, before ELP would end in the Greco Roman Nipple Lock – and SHO had to help him to freedom. Henare would hit the springboard midkick into the ring, before a Blue Thunder Bomb on EVIL for the two count.
Great-O-Khan would look for the Eliminator on Togo, before instead tossing him into Henare for Ultima. Togo’s eyes would roll into the back of his head, and this one ended via referee stoppage.
Toru Yano Isn’t Here To Play Games
Toru Yano was able to defeat JONAH via countout to start his G1 Climax, and tonight he’s got a chance to test the skills of his factionmate of Kazuchika Okada. Okada will team with YOSHI-HASHI to take on Yano & young lion Ryohei Oiwa.
Yano would go after Okada as the bell rang, taking him outside, driving him into the barricade and hitting him with a chair. Back in the ring, a corner pad was exposed, before looking for the powerbomb. Okada slipped free and hit a running back elbow, before YOSHI-HASHI would apply the rear chinlock.
Floating senton from Okada would land, before a DDT for a two count. Yano shot back with a manhattan drop, and Oiwa hit the ring alongside YOSHI-HASHI. A dropkick in the corner and deadlift Gutwrench Suplex would follow, before Oiwa applied the Boston Crab.
YOSHI-HASHI found the bottom rope, and Yano would make the save after a superkick. Butterfly Lock would be applied on Oiwa, and he had no choice but to tap out.
