On Friday, July 22, 2022, Kid Rock ended his concert at Minot’s North Dakota State Fair earlier than expected—and the crowd wasn’t having it. Prior to when Kid Rock took the stage, 80s band Night Ranger logged a 2 ½ hour performance…then it appeared as though the weather turned.
North Dakota Crowd Becomes Rowdy After Kid Rock Cancels Already-Delayed Show Because of Weather Concerns
The Bull God was scheduled to get on stage at about 9:30 PM to finish off a night of brews and tunes but a storm was rolling in just outside of Minot. Now, this is where we get local for moment. If you’ve lived in any city or town for years, you know the weather. You have an idea of what the weather will do in a particular part of the city.
On July 22, we could say that the storm wasn’t packing sizzle or steak. It was wind only with no rain or lightning. This put things up in the air as it’s a “Will it or won’t it” situation with this storm.
The crowd probably figured “It ain’t gonna rain, bring your ass out here and perform. We paid for ‘Kid Rock with special guests Night Ranger’ not ‘Night Ranger featuring Kid Rock’” because they started to get antsy once it rolled over into 11 PM.
Eventually, a deputy with the Ward County Sheriff’s Department announced that the rest of the show was canceled—and the Fairgrounds audience became unglued and began throwing beer cans. They were not having it. Security and police had to manage the rowdier members of the 18,000 in attendance.
Following the event, Kid Rock apologized to fans on Twitter while the North Dakota State Fair stated that it would issue refunds to those who bought tickets.
