When Tony Khan purchased Ring of Honor, all but one set of belts would emerge. The ROH World Six Man Tag Team Championships were put to the side, but tonight – The Righteous are on the show with their gold in tow. Vincent, Bateman & Dutch are a powerful duo – and tonight will defend their spot as the best trio in ROH against Dalton Castle & The Boys.
Dalton Castle & The Boys Become Two Time Six Man Tag Team Champions
Dalton would kick things off with Vincent, and would take the Side Russian Leg Sweep. Bateman got into the ring and was kicked off before taking the T-Bone Suplex. The Boys would hit some high speed offense, working together to overcome the size of Bateman.
Dutch was far too large for this to work however, and he’d try to cave in the chest with a chop before an effortless suplex. Vincent would take the ring for the backdrop driver, before Bateman got in and kept the pressure on with a spinning back elbow.
Dalton got back in and tried to get this one back under control, hitting a basement DDT on Bateman, and a set of Exploder. Dutch was kept from the ring by The Boys, before Dalton would use them as projectiles for dives. Dutch would however show them how it’s done, crushing The Boys.
Vincent nailed Death From Above in the ring, and Dalton shoved the referee into the pin to break. Orange Sunshine dropped a Boy, before Dalton would hit the takedown. Dutch nailed the Boss Man Slam, before Dalton hit the German Suplex. Dalton hit Bang-A-Rang on Bateman – and we have new champions!
Pure Rules Action
Wheeler Yuta has really levelled up in recent months, having won the ROH Pure Championship, joined Blackpool Combat Club, and even had a run in the NJPW Best of the Super Juniors tournament. He’s battled in Blood & Guts & Anarchy in the Arena – and both times would match up with Daniel Garcia.
Tonight, Garcia is stepping into Yuta’s world however, and will look to prove he’s not just a sports entertainer, but also the better pure wrestler here tonight with the belt on the line. Pure Rules mean no closed first punches, and you get just three rope breaks. If it goes to time, the judges at ringside will choose a winner.
They’d kick things off with some forearm smashes, and William Regal on commentary said that if this somehow goes 60 minutes – he’ll be upset. Yuta would hit a backdrop, before applying the cross arm stretch – and Garcia would counter briefly, before Yuta brought it back. A headbutt is a legal move, and Garcia used it to get free – only for Yuta to get back into a headlock.
Garcia would power him up, and chucked him down to the floor. He’d whip Yuta off the barricade, before a suplex in the ring. Yuta nailed the scoop slam and senton combo, before grapevining the legs, and applied the bow & arrow stretch. German Suplex would land, before Garcia would bite the ear. Garcia went after the ear, all legal in the rules. He’d whip Yuta into the corner, before some strikes.
Yuta would grab the ear of Garcia to get free, before the shotgun dropkick. Manhattan Drop would be followed by the enziguri, before a diving forearm smash. We’d pass 10 minutes and zero rope breaks were used.
Wheeler Yuta Out Wrestles Garcia
Both men would trade strikes in the middle of the ring, with Yuta winning out. It was a potential KO, with Garcia showing signs of life at nine and ending up right in a German Suplex. Hammer & Anvil Elbow would follow, before Garcia rolled back into the same strikes before a rear naked choke.
Yuta would counter into a pinfall, before hitting PainThriller. He’d move into the crossface, but Garcia would be able to counter into a tight sharpshooter. Yuta would catch him reaching back far, and got the Bulldog Choke – before Garcia would apply the Regal Stretch.
Yuta got free and applied the Liontamer, and Garica used the first rope break of the match – nearly 15 minutes into the match. Garcia would be able to stuff Yuta with a piledriver, before he’d try to kick the head in. He’d spit in the face of Garcia, and grabbed the Seatbelt Clutch for the win.
