Earlier this year, fans got to see a tag team dream match when FTR met the Briscoes, and it was one of the best tag team matches in recent history. Now tonight, they run it back – as The Briscoes look to reclaim the ROH World Tag Team Championships in a Best Two Out The Three Falls match. This is a match type that favours The Briscoes, having a lot more experience and success in these matches over FTR. However, FTR are on an all time great run – and tonight will look to once again prove they’re the best tag team in the world.
The Briscoes Take The First Fall
These two teams would stare each other down, as the crowd was already on fire. Dax would start up with Mark, locking up hard in the middle of the ring to a stalemate. Mark would hit the shoulder tackle, and Dax went to Cash for some advice. Dax would grab the wrist of Mark and get the arm wrench, before handing it off to Cash.
Jay would get tagged in, and Dax came back in to control him with the headlock. Dax lost control, before being dropped with the hurricanrana to the floor. His shoulder would get checked at ringside, but Dax was good to continue. Cash would drive The Briscoes from the ring, and this match would reset.
Mark would hit the ring alongside Cash, before Jay tagged in and hit the big boot. The Briscoes would look to isolate, with their grunting communication setting up a double team shoulder tackle without Cash having a clue what was happening. Cash would fight Jay off for a moment, before taking a back elbow to the face.
Dax would get the tag and was able to uncork those hard strikes that got him the ‘Dax The Axe’ nickname, before catching Jay with two German Suplexes, and getting a near fall off a flash pinfall. The Briscoes would cut Dax down and sent him to the floor, before Mark wanted the Cactus Elbow, and was dropped with a lariat from Wheeler.
Jay and Dax took the ring, and Jay Driller was blocked before a DDT for a near fall. Dax was flung into the corner post, and Doomsday Device would decide the first fall of the match – as Jay stopped Cash from making the save.
FTR Tie Things Up
After a brief rest period, Dax would grab an inside cradle for a two count – before being driven down with the lariat. Mark would hit some heavy chops on the floor, keeping the beating coming before feeding him back into Jay. Dax was bleeding from his chest from this beating, and the sweat getting in there is not a comfortable feeling.
Mark would apply the rear chinlock, and Dax was starting to fade. He’d be able to get the back drop to get the chance of a tag, but Jay would cut the tag off before taking a German Suplex. He’d go up top for a Super Backdrop, but still couldn’t make the tag. Redneck Boogie would land, but Dax would be able to kick out, despite the odds. He’d fight back to his feet, and trade chops with Mark, who had perfectly cut the ring in half. Dax would break through, and Wheeler hit the ring with purpose.
Uppercuts and Belly To Belly Suplexes would follow, before the Gory Special for the near fall. This one turned into a brawl to the floor, but in the ring Cash hit a crossbody for the two count… with Jay getting him in the head with the ring bell. Somehow this was not the finish! Dax would slapjack Mark onto the stairs, as Cash was bleeding in the ring.
Big Rig would land in the ring on Jay, and suddenly this match was tied up 1-1. Thirty minutes left for the final fall, as the crowd chants Fight Forever.
Super Piledriver Is What It Takes To End This Match
Mark would hit a bloody Cash with a uranage suplex, and Dax ran into one as well. The Blockbuster off the apron would land on Dax, before Jay tagged in. He’d walk right into a piledriver, but this wasn’t enough to end it. Doomsday Device attempt was blocked, and FTR wanted Big Rig – but Jay would be moving – and a punch landed to the referee.
J-Driller would land, but with no referee to count the fall – this one didn’t count for the final fall. Cash stopped the Doomsday Device attempt, before Jay springed into the Big Rig. Cash put the referee into the ring, but it was too slow for Jay to not kick out.
The Briscoes hit the Doomsday Device, but Cash was there to make the save again. Cash & Mark took each other out on the apron, leaving Jay & Dax in the ring. They’d trade roll up attempts in the ring, before Jay grabbed the camel clutch. Cash got into the ring, and Mark grabbed the hold on Cash. They’d grab hands, ensuring neither man tapped out.
Cash & Mark would go to disaster on the floor with a backdrop through the table. In the ring, Jay would hit the J-Driller, but somehow Dax kicked out of the move that won the ROH World Championship. They’d trade blows in the corner, before Dax would hit a piledriver from the second rope and drape a leg over Jay for the final and deciding fall.
