Actress Jamie Brewer could not be more proud of cracking the acting industry amid her struggle with Down syndrome.
Actress Jamie Brewer Proud To Be A Pioneer For Actors With Down Syndrome
Down syndrome is a condition that can result in the body having a different physical stature, as a result of someone being born with an extra chromosome.
But given that the actress has had over a decade in the industry, starring alongside some major actors such as Neil Patrick Harris and Jessica Lange, she has become a leading figure for those who have had this condition.
In an interview with Page Six magazine, she said: “A lot of people often say about me, I’m a pioneer.
“Being one of the pioneers … [I’m] showing the life of an individual with Down syndrome — and showing every aspect of [how that fits in] the entertainment industry.”
And as part of this process, Jamie managed to make some history too. She became the first person with Down syndrome to help lead a theatrical show on Broadway.
This was part of the play ‘“Amy and the Orphans,’ in 2018. And that moment is something she has cherished forever, since it cannot be taken away from her, regardless of how her career pans out going forward.
Jamie’s following comments confirmed as much: “Being Ginny Palmer was incredible. I’m an only child personally, so this play showed the bond between a brother and sister — and what happens with a brother and sister’s bond when the sister has Down syndrome.”
The fans on social media praised Jamie, as her story served as an example to others that they should pursue their dreams. One person wrote: “Take the risk. Take the chance.
“Put your heart and soul into it, because when you put your soul into it, you will become what you’ve always dreamed. You yourself will become a legend.”
Jamie has certainly come a long way, and hopefully, things continue in that way. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
